International Relations Officer

The International Office of the Academic Services Center initiates and facilitates internationalization of Nyenrode’s education, research and community. We are looking for an International Relations Officer for 32-40 hours per week who has affinity (and preferably experience) with all the aspects of internationalization in higher education.

 

The Challenge:

As an International Relations Officer you are the main point of contact for international students, researchers and staff members. Together with your colleague you play an invaluable part in the onboarding process, satisfaction and experience of working or studying at Nyenrode in the Netherlands. At the same time, you oversee and organize all the student exchange programs together with our partner universities.

 

Together with the educational teams and HR you help students, researchers and staff members with questions about living in the Netherlands, working or studying at Nyenrode, and practical challenges like visa, banking, medical aid, and housing arrangements. You play an important role in maintaining good relations with our partner universities, and actively search for areas to improve and expand our partnerships. You support our international boards and committees together with the chairpersons, and you organize the visits of its members to Nyenrode. The International Office is responsible for realizing the internationalization strategy of Nyenrode: you maintain good relations with internal and external stakeholders, monitor the progress, implement improvements, and support the organization in realizing our goals.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Supporting students, staff and faculty on all elements of international relations.
  • Analyzing and advising on (inter)national trends and developments, translating these into opportunities, and incorporating these into the organization.
  • Supporting students, faculty and staff in Erasmus+ programs of Nyenrode.
  • Drafting and implementing internationalization policies and support programs and faculty.
  • Supporting the internationalization elements of AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB accreditations.
  • Maintaining and expanding strategic institutional partnerships.
  • Contributing to activities to strengthen a diverse and inclusive community culture.

Department

The Academic Services Center consists of three teams: Advice & Expertise, General Support, and Career & Personal Development.

  • Advice & Expertise: This team focuses on advising, policy development, and strategy. They support Nyenrode with specialized knowledge in the areas of educational policy, innovation, faculty development, and internationalization.
  • General Support: This team provides support to various (academic) services at Nyenrode, including the Examination Committee, the Media Center, Research Support (PhD school), and invigilators.
  • Career & Personal Development: This team is primarily responsible for coaching and guiding students and participants to help them connect with the job market.
      

 

Who are you?

  • Academic thinking (analytical and conceptual thinking) and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, self-governing and accurate working style.
  • Experience working in Higher Education or Relationship Management role, preferably with international partnership experience.
  • Knowledge of issues pertaining to the international performance of Higher Education institutions.
  • Understanding and knowledge of different cultures and practices.
  • Developed capacity to work as a team member across broad networks.
  • Experience in drafting reports, briefing materials and presentations for a range of
  • audiences.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English, more foreign languages are desirable.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills including report writing and the ability to convey complex issues concisely and clearly.
  • Intercultural sensitivity and be able to fully embrace a diverse & inclusive culture.

Working at Nyenrode means working on a 13th-century wooded estate with a castle in Breukelen or at the Keizersgracht, in the historic center of Amsterdam. Your working place will primarily be in Breukelen.

  • A gross salary between €3,177 and €4,951 depending on your age and work experience, in the case of full-time employment (Scale 10).
  • Fixed 5,1 % end of year bonus.
  • Flexible end of year bonus, up to 4,5%.
  • 30 days off (with the option of five more).
  • € 850 to be spent with Coolblue (online shop) to facilitate a home office.
  • Reimbursements for internet, gym, working from home, travel allowance, etc.
  • Pension scheme is through ABP.
